Q. What is the most 'interesting' dish you have ever had?

Thank you everyone who submitted your most interesting/ridiculous dish. The Graceland judges certainly had a difficult time trying to determine which one is the winner. In the end, the ones that were most interesting, strange but not to the point of disgusting and disturbing prevailed. Also, it had to pass the test that the judges can find them on the net, to confirm it's relevance and that it does actually exists.

We will list out the top 5:

5. Fufu - Africa

submitted by Matthew H.

What's so special about this? The judge simply likes the name of this. After a bit of research, we have found that this is a type of staple food, usually eaten with soup, and varies depending on which part of Africa you are in. So it seems like the name made it sound much more exciting than it offers, hence the number 5 spot.

4. Filipino Spaghetti with Banana Ketchup - Jollibee, Phillipines

submitted by Louise G.

When the judges first saw this, they thought they have found THE ONE. Surely, banana and ketchup don't mix very well? Looking into this in more detail, we have discovered that one of the main ingredient, banana ketchup or banana sauce, does not contain any tomato ketchups at all. In fact, it is made of banana, sugar, vinegar and spices, and tastes more like the sweet chilli sauce. Apparently this is a popular dish in Phillipines.

3. Deep Fried Durian Dessert - Jogoya, KL

submitted by Jacky K.

I am sure some people would disagree and consider this as a wonderful dish, but to a lot of people, dessert is meant to at least smell nice. Without being too biased, the smell of durian do lack sweetness, and difficult to be defined as nice.

2. Wasabi Ice Cream - Uzumaki, Japan

submitted by Andy J.

Having tasted this before, I can confirm that this is both ridiculous and weird. Of course, I knew what wasabi tasted like beforehand, and I sure know what to expect from an ice-cream. But mixing it together is just not the right thing to do. The taste totally confused my taste bud.

1. Guinea Pigs - Peru

submitted by Bec G.

Ok. You win.

We thought guinea pigs were only found in Pets Paradise, and usually greeted by people saying "Oh, that's so cute" rather than "Oh, that tastes so great". Apprently this is a majorly popular dish in South America.

Why is it so popular? We have found that it has an efficient reproductive process (ie they breed quickly), meaning it's more profitable to sell them than other more boring food like pigs, cows and lamb.

Health benefits? High protein and low in fat and choelsterol. Still, I am sure we all prefer to pat them instead.
"Hi, we're not going to Peru!"
